Ice Ice Baby

March 5, 2016

Without much planning and very last minute booking, my family and I took a trip to Reykjavik, Iceland earlier this year. None of us really knew anything about Iceland really, all we knew was that flights were dirt cheap and since we had never been there, it was something to say we've done.

This trip ended up being particularly an adventure because most of it was spent outdoors in freezing temperatures. Looking back on it now, almost all of the photos I took were taken outside. If you know anything about me it's that I'm not particularly the most outdoorsy person nor do I like the cold (I live in San Diego for a reason) but I have to say that I enjoyed myself. The snow and all the natural springs and waterfalls were nice change from what I was used to back home.
The highlight of this trip was hands down Blue Lagoon! We took an hour long bus ride to soak our cold, tired bodies in that glorious geothermal spa with its milky blue water and volcanic rocks while snow lightly dusted the tops of our heads. We also spontaneously saw the Northern Lights walking from the bar one night which was pretty amazing.
To be completely honest I'm one of those "been there, done that" kind of girls when it comes to traveling and there are only a handful of places that I would travel back to again but Iceland is one of those places. If you ever have the chance to go, DO IT! Trust me.
